Soon To Be Foster Parents Again!
We have had our first home visit this past Thursday. She was here for 2 hours. Her biggest thing was seeing how well we have healed from the trauma of our son. She was so impressed with Miss A and the amount of healing she showed. We talked about many of our foster babies from the 90's too. She said she wished she could place with us now. My husband and I attend a weekend training session at the end of October; I'll get our criminal record checks for the 4 of us started this week and then after the training, we'll get the application and references in. They check our references and then the home study happens. In January, the licensing unit comes out to go thru the house with a safety checklist and then we receive our license. This province gives you $400 to help pay for a crib, car seat, etc. it doesn't sound like a lot, but New England gave us nothing. In December, the girls will room together. We are going to build 1-2 bedrooms where the garage is. The garage is insulated and heated already. We'll also build a mud room there.. Those bedrooms will be for the girls. The foster babies will remain upstairs across from my bedroom. I am so excited to leave my job. If all goes well with the home study, I'll leave my job on December 21st. If the licensing wouldn't take place until mid January, then I'll leave on January 11th. Christmas of 2013 is going to be so much fun! So lots happening in our house.
